Production in Mexico

The Mexican government has supporting programs whose purpose is to allow companies to manufacture goods by importing raw materials

with a preferential ad-valorem tariff, to be incorporated and used in its production process, regardless of whether these goods are destined for the production process export or to the domestic market.

There are 24 sectors corresponding to various industries, among which are: electrical, electronics, furniture, footwear, chemicals, steel, transport, wood, automotive, textile and clothing, among others.

Currently there are more than 4,000 companies with Production Programs and more than 4700 merchandise production plants are registered.

The Mexican Government also has other special programs that allow foreign manufacturers to import raw materials and components into Mexico so that they can be manufactured, transformed or fixed.

The benefit granted by the IMMEX program to foreign manufacturers is the freedom from payment of general import taxes, free payment of value-added taxes and countervailing duties.

The aim is to expand the Mexican economy, giving way to foreign companies in a competitive environment. At the same time, it is also about modernizing Mexico’s infrastructure by importing new technologies and knowledge, which generate an economic spillover in terms of more employment and direct monetary investments.
